Biography
Joel Montgomery has worked in 22 countries, lived in five, and speaks three languages. As a newly minted graduate, he was in charge of a sales territory of over 30 countries in Latin America, but eventually found a growing chasm between the work he wanted to do and the work he was doing. As such, Joel turned his attention toward the world of social enterprise. As a 2009 Acumen Fund Fellow, Joel traveled to Pakistan to help a start-up irrigation company better serve the needs of poor farmers. In 2010, he will be starring in the upcoming Social Enterprise Documentary entitled, The New Recruits. Now as the Director of International Expansion to Sub-Saharan Africa for Endeavor, Joel is helping create an enabling environment for African entrepreneurs so that African innovations can go global, all the while creating thousands of jobs.
Joel has consulted to firms around the world in the areas of sales, marketing, business development, change management, and operations. He has also negotiated international contracts with corporations such as Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, S.C. Johnson, Unilever and Nestle. Joel has a MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management and BS from Yale University.
